Financial Assistance
At Debbie Bennett Funeral Directors, we understand that managing funeral expenses can be overwhelming, especially during times of grief.
That's why we're committed to providing support and guidance to help alleviate the financial burden of arranging a funeral. Below, you'll find detailed information on available options for financial assistance:
1. The Social Fund
-
The Social Fund is designed to assist individuals with limited income who may struggle to cover sudden and unexpected expenses like funeral costs. While funds are available, they are subject to certain limitations.
2. Bereavement Payments
-
Bereavement Payments are available to individuals whose spouse or civil partner has passed away. This one-time, tax-free lump sum payment amounts to £2,000.
-
You may be eligible for Bereavement Payment if your spouse or civil partner made National Insurance contributions (NICs), or if their death was work-related, under specific conditions.
-
Bereavement Payment is not available under certain circumstances, such as divorce from your late spouse or partner, cohabitation without a formal marital or civil partnership relationship, or incarceration.
regarding Bereavement Allowance
After the loss of your spouse or civil partner, you may qualify for Bereavement Allowance.
This taxable weekly benefit is provided for up to 52 weeks from the date of your spouse's, wife's, or civil partner's passing. You may be eligible if you meet specific criteria, including being aged 45 or older, not responsible for raising children, and not yet reached State Pension age.
For comprehensive information and claim forms regarding bereavement payments and allowances, you can obtain them from the Directgov website, Citizens Advice Bureau, Jobcentre Plus, or by calling 0845 603 6967.
At Debbie Bennett Funeral Directors, we're here to support you every step of the way, including navigating the financial aspects of arranging a funeral. Your peace of mind is our priority, and we're dedicated to providing compassionate assistance during this challenging time.
